Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blacksteel Blue Ball'
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blacksteel Blue Ball' is a striking deciduous shrub producing large, rounded mophead flowers in rich blue to violet-blue shades. The colourful blooms contrast dramatically with distinctive glossy, near-black stems and lush green foliage.
Flowering from June to September, 'Blacksteel Blue Ball' provides a long-lasting summer display and brings bold colour and structure to garden planting. The unusual dark stems remain a prominent feature throughout the growing season, giving this Hydrangea a contemporary appearance.
Compact and bushy, this variety is ideal for mixed borders and large patio containers. Grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Acidic conditions will help maintain the strongest blue flower colouring, while flowers may become more purple or pink in less acidic soils.
