Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane'
Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane' is a broad-crowned deciduous shrub with an open, spreading habit and some of the richest red flowers found among Witch Hazels. From winter into early spring, its bare branches are decorated with distinctive spidery blooms in warm brick-red tones.
Flowering from December to March, 'Diane' provides valuable colour during the quietest months of the year. The flowers are fragrant, adding further winter interest, while the large green leaves develop fiery shades of red, orange and yellow in autumn.
Ideal as a specimen shrub or for woodland-style planting and mixed borders, 'Diane' grows best in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. It prefers neutral to acidic conditions and benefits from a sheltered position for the best flowering display.
