Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold Promise' is a striking deciduous shrub valued for its fragrant winter flowers and colourful autumn foliage. From late winter into early spring, clusters of clear lemon-yellow, ribbon-like flowers appear along the bare branches, emerging from contrasting reddish calyxes.

The flowers are typically at their best from February to March, providing valuable colour and fragrance when little else is in bloom. During autumn, the green foliage develops warm shades of yellow, orange and red, giving the plant a second impressive seasonal display.

With its open, broadly spreading and vase-shaped habit, 'Arnold Promise' makes an excellent specimen shrub for woodland gardens, mixed borders and larger gardens. Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade for the best flowering and autumn colour.
