Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'
Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is a graceful ornamental grass prized for its vivid yellow and green striped foliage. Its narrow, ribbon-like leaves arch gently to form a soft, flowing mound that brings movement, texture and brightness to shaded planting schemes.
In brighter positions, the foliage may develop warm red and bronze tones as the season progresses, adding further colour variation and autumn interest. Its elegant cascading habit makes it especially effective for softening paths, steps, containers and the edges of borders.
Best grown in dappled or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil, 'Aureola' is ideal for woodland gardens, underplanting trees and shrubs, and shaded patio displays. Easy to grow, compact and dependable, it is an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.
