Garrya elliptica 'James Roof'
Garrya elliptica 'James Roof' is a vigorous evergreen shrub prized for its spectacular winter display of exceptionally long, silvery-grey catkins. The tassel-like flowers hang from the branches from midwinter into early spring, creating a dramatic effect when relatively little else is in flower.
Dense, leathery dark green foliage provides year-round structure and makes 'James Roof' an excellent choice as a specimen shrub or for training against a wall. Its bold form is particularly effective in architectural planting and winter-interest schemes.
Reliable and low maintenance, 'James Roof' performs best in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade and in well-drained soil. It is especially effective where the long catkins can be viewed at close range during the colder months.
