Euphorbia ritchiei
Euphorbia ritchiei is a fascinating succulent species native to East Africa, valued for its unusual branching stems and compact growth habit. The fleshy green stems form dense clumps over time, creating an attractive architectural display that resembles a miniature cactus, despite being unrelated.
This drought-tolerant plant is well suited to bright windowsills, conservatories and succulent collections. During the growing season it may produce small yellow-green flowers near the stem tips, adding further interest to its sculptural appearance. Its compact size and easy-going nature make it an excellent choice for both beginners and collectors.

Euphorbia Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright light and will tolerate several hours of direct sun. A south or west-facing windowsill is ideal.
Water: Allow the compost to dry almost completely between waterings. Water sparingly during autumn and winter when growth slows.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining cactus or succulent compost with added grit or perlite. Feed monthly with a diluted cactus fertiliser during spring and summer.
Humidity: Average household humidity is perfectly adequate. Does not require misting and prefers good air circulation.
Pruning and propagation: Remove damaged stems as required. Can be propagated from stem cuttings, allowing the cut surface to callous before planting. Take care as the milky sap can irritate skin.
