Echinacea purpurea 'Lucky Star'
Echinacea purpurea 'Lucky Star' is a robust perennial producing large, bright white daisy-like flowers with prominent orange-yellow central cones. The broad petals are held almost horizontally, creating a crisp and eye-catching display above sturdy upright stems from midsummer into early autumn.
Bred from the award-winning 'Rubinstern', 'Lucky Star' combines strong garden performance with a vigorous, long-lived habit. Its flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, while the sturdy stems also make an excellent choice for cutting and adding to summer flower arrangements.
Best grown in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil, this adaptable Echinacea is drought tolerant once established and works particularly well in cottage gardens, prairie-style planting, mixed borders and containers. Deadheading will encourage further flowers, although leaving some seed heads in autumn provides winter interest and a valuable food source for birds.
