  • Eventual height: 40–60cm
  • Origins: Southeast Asia

Dendrobium Care Sheet

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun encourages flowering, but avoid harsh midday rays

Water: Water thoroughly, allowing excess to drain. Let the top layer of the mix dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter rest

Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining orchid mix containing bark and perlite. Feed fortnightly in spring and summer with a balanced orchid fertiliser; do not feed in winter

Humidity: Enjoys moderate humidity. Place on a pebble tray or group with other plants to maintain moisture in the air. Avoid misting the canes directly

Pruning and propagation: Remove spent flower stems only after blooming. Do not cut green canes—they store energy. Propagate from keikis once roots develop

Experience level: Moderate
