Crassula lycopodioides
Crassula lycopodioides – A quirky, mat-forming succulent with tightly packed, overlapping green leaves on upright stems that resemble miniature pine branches. Its unusual texture and compact habit make it perfect for small pots, mixed succulent displays, or terrariums.
- Other names: Watch Chain Plant, Crassula muscosa (syn.)
- Useful to know: Not safe for pets – toxic if ingested
- Eventual height: Up to 20–25cm tall
- Origins: South Africa and Namibia
Crassula Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. Tolerates some shade but may become leggy without enough light.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out fully between waterings. Water sparingly and avoid overwatering, especially in winter.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Feed once a month in spring and summer with a diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: Thrives in dry conditions. Avoid misting or placing in humid environments.
Pruning & Propagation: Trim to maintain compact shape or encourage branching. Propagates easily from stem cuttings once calloused.
