Clematis tibetana subsp. tangutica
Clematis tibetana subsp. tangutica is a vigorous deciduous climber producing distinctive nodding, lantern-shaped yellow flowers from summer into autumn. The bright blooms stand out beautifully against fresh green foliage and bring a light, informal character to walls, fences and garden structures.
After flowering, attractive silky seed heads develop and remain decorative well into autumn, extending the season of interest. Its long flowering period and relaxed growth make it particularly effective in wildlife-friendly gardens and naturalistic planting schemes.
Hardy and easy to grow, Clematis tibetana subsp. tangutica performs best in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Train it over fences, pergolas, arches or trellises where its vigorous stems have plenty of room to develop.
