Cistus × purpureus
Cistus × purpureus is a compact, evergreen shrub valued for its bold summer display and excellent drought tolerance. In June and July, it produces masses of large pink flowers, each beautifully marked with deep maroon blotches at the base of the petals, creating a striking contrast against the grey-green foliage.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this low-maintenance shrub is ideal for sheltered borders, gravel gardens and coastal settings. Once established, it copes well with dry conditions, making it a reliable choice for sunny, exposed areas.
