Cissus discolor
Cissus discolor is one of the most striking foliage climbers that can be grown indoors, valued for its spectacular patterned leaves and elegant trailing or climbing habit. The elongated leaves are deep green with prominent silver markings between the veins, while the undersides are flushed rich burgundy-purple, creating beautiful contrast as the foliage moves and matures.
Using delicate tendrils to climb, this tropical vine can be trained up supports, moss poles or trellises, making it an excellent choice for creating vertical interest indoors. Its dramatic foliage has earned it the common name Rex Begonia Vine, although it is not related to begonias. Given warmth, humidity and bright indirect light, it quickly develops into a stunning specimen plant.

Cissus Care Sheet
Light: Bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid strong direct sunlight which can scorch the foliage, but ensure plenty of light to maintain strong leaf colour and growth.
Water: Keep compost evenly moist during active growth, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during winter.
Soil/Nutrition: Grow in a free-draining houseplant compost enriched with perlite or bark. Feed every two to four weeks during spring and summer.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity and performs best in warm rooms, conservatories, kitchens or bathrooms.
Pruning and propagation: Trim long stems to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Easily propagated from stem cuttings.
Experience level: Moderate
