Ceratostigma plumbaginoides
Ceratostigma plumbaginoides is a low-growing, spreading perennial prized for its vivid cobalt-blue flowers and colourful autumn foliage. The brilliant blooms appear in clusters above fresh green leaves, creating a striking display at the front of borders.
Flowering from late summer into autumn, it provides valuable colour as many earlier-flowering plants begin to fade. As temperatures cool, the foliage develops rich red and purple tones, extending its seasonal interest beyond the flowering period.
Ideal for sunny beds, banks, slopes and gravel gardens, this mat-forming plant makes attractive ground cover when allowed to spread. It performs best in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil and becomes increasingly drought tolerant once established.
