Camellia japonica 'Matterhorn' is an elegant evergreen shrub producing pure white, fully double flowers from late winter into early spring. The beautifully formed blooms create a classic, refined display and contrast strongly against the glossy dark green foliage.
Its evergreen leaves provide valuable structure and colour throughout the year, making 'Matterhorn' an excellent choice for sheltered borders, woodland-style planting and large patio containers. The pristine white flowers are particularly effective for brightening partially shaded areas of the garden.
For best results, grow in partial shade in acidic, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Choose a sheltered position protected from cold, drying winds and early morning sun to help preserve the developing flower buds and blooms.
