Camellia japonica 'Brushfield's Yellow'
Camellia japonica 'Brushfield's Yellow' is an upright evergreen shrub admired for its distinctive anemone-form double flowers. Broad creamy-white petals surround a tightly ruffled centre of pale primrose-yellow, creating an elegant display during March and April.
Glossy, dark green leaves provide a rich backdrop to the flowers and attractive structure throughout the year. Its bushy, upright habit makes it particularly effective in mixed borders and woodland-style planting, while the softly coloured blooms combine beautifully with other spring-flowering shrubs and bulbs.
Grow in partial or dappled shade with moist but well-drained acidic soil, choosing a sheltered position away from cold winds and early morning sun. Ideal for large patio containers filled with ericaceous compost, 'Brushfield's Yellow' requires little pruning. Keep well watered during summer to support the development of next spring's flower buds.
