Calocephalus brownii 'Silver Sand'
Calocephalus brownii 'Silver Sand' is a distinctive evergreen shrub grown for its unusual silver-grey colouring and finely textured growth. Its slender, interwoven stems are covered in soft silvery hairs, forming a compact, rounded plant with a striking architectural appearance.
The silvery foliage provides excellent contrast alongside autumn and winter planting, making 'Silver Sand' particularly effective in seasonal containers, baskets and mixed displays. Small yellow flowers may appear in late summer, although the attractive stems and foliage remain its main feature.
Low maintenance and drought tolerant once established, 'Silver Sand' performs best in a sunny position in well-drained soil. It is particularly useful for container planting where its distinctive colour and texture can be combined with seasonal bedding and foliage plants.
