Begonia rex ‘Spirit of Mauritius’
Begonia rex ‘Spirit of Mauritius’ is a striking foliage houseplant with large, richly patterned leaves combining shades of green, silver and deep burgundy. Its dramatic colouring, textured surface and contrasting markings give each leaf an almost painted appearance, creating an impressive display throughout the year.
Perfect for shelves, side tables or grouped with other decorative foliage plants, ‘Spirit of Mauritius’ works best in bright, indirect light where its intricate colours can be fully appreciated. Its bold foliage makes it an excellent choice for bringing colour and texture to an indoor plant collection without relying on flowers.

Begonia Care Sheet
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid strong direct sunlight which can scorch the foliage and fade its colours.
Water: Water when the top layer of compost begins to dry. Keep lightly moist during active growth but avoid waterlogging.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining houseplant compost with good moisture retention. Feed every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to higher humidity, but avoid regularly misting or leaving the decorative foliage wet.
Pruning and propagation: Remove old or damaged leaves at the base. Propagate from leaf cuttings or by carefully dividing established plants.
