Amelanchier alnifolia 'Obelisk'
Amelanchier 'Obelisk' is a slender deciduous tree or large shrub with a naturally upright, columnar habit. Bronze-tinted young leaves emerge in spring alongside abundant clusters of star-shaped white flowers with fresh green centres.
The flowers are followed by edible scarlet fruits that gradually ripen to purple-black during summer. Popular with garden birds, the berries provide valuable wildlife interest, while the foliage develops vibrant orange-yellow and red tones in autumn.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Obelisk' is ideal for smaller gardens, narrow borders and spaces where height is required without excessive width. Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained, lime-free soil, with the strongest autumn colour developing in a sunny position.
