Acer platanoides 'Crimson King'
Acer platanoides 'Crimson King' is a striking deciduous tree known for its rich, deep purple foliage, which holds its colour throughout the growing season. Large, glossy leaves create a dense, rounded canopy, making it an excellent choice for adding bold contrast and structure to larger gardens and landscapes.
In spring, small yellow-green flowers appear before or alongside the foliage, providing subtle seasonal interest. The dark leaves then create a dramatic backdrop throughout summer before falling in autumn.
This tough and reliable tree is well suited to urban and suburban settings, tolerating a range of soils and growing conditions. Ideal as a specimen tree or for avenue planting, it provides valuable shade as well as strong architectural presence.
