Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo'
Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' is an elegant and ethereal Japanese maple, prized for its delicate, variegated foliage. Meaning “floating clouds”, this distinctive variety produces soft green leaves beautifully speckled and marbled with white and soft pink, particularly striking in spring.
As the season progresses, the colouring subtly shifts, with some leaves developing a translucent, cloud-like effect. Its upright, airy habit and finely divided structure make it perfect for light shade, sheltered borders or as a feature specimen in smaller gardens. For the brightest variegation, position in partial shade away from strong midday sun.
