Acer palmatum 'Tsuma Gaki'
Acer 'Tsuma Gaki' is an elegant deciduous Japanese maple prized for its distinctive spring foliage. New leaves emerge soft yellow-green with striking crimson-red tips, creating a beautifully delicate two-tone effect as the growth unfurls.
As the season progresses, the foliage matures to fresh green before developing warm shades of orange and red in autumn. Its graceful, spreading habit makes 'Tsuma Gaki' an excellent specimen for borders, courtyards and Japanese-style planting schemes.
Hardy and relatively slow growing, 'Tsuma Gaki' performs best in a sheltered position in sun or partial shade, protected from strong winds and intense midday sun. It prefers moist but well-drained soil and benefits from a position where its colourful spring growth can be appreciated at close range.
