Calathea crocata
Calathea crocata is a striking tropical foliage plant known for its deep green, velvety leaves with rich purple undersides and vivid orange-yellow blooms that rise like flames above the foliage. These long-lasting flowers appear throughout the warmer months, adding a burst of colour and contrast to your indoor plant collection.
Also called the Eternal Flame Plant, Calathea crocata thrives in bright, humid rooms away from direct sunlight. Perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, or living rooms, it combines lush foliage with fiery floral displays, bringing warmth and life to shaded interiors.

Calathea Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Tolerates lower light but may flower less. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water: Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3cm of soil are dry. Use filtered or rainwater if possible.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a rich, well-draining houseplant compost. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: Needs high humidity to thrive. Mist regularly, use a pebble tray, or place near a humidifier.
Pruning & Propagation: Remove faded flowers and damaged leaves. Can be divided during repotting in spring.
