Thymus x citriodorus 'Sambesi'
Thymus x citriodorus 'Sambesi' is a compact, evergreen lemon thyme that combines attractive year-round foliage with a wonderfully fresh citrus fragrance. Its low-growing, spreading habit makes it an excellent choice for edging paths, filling gaps between paving stones, softening border edges, or creating a fragrant carpet in sunny areas of the garden.
Tiny bright green leaves release a refreshing lemon scent when brushed or crushed, adding an extra sensory dimension to the garden. During summer, the foliage is topped with masses of delicate pink-lilac flowers that attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, 'Sambesi' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It performs exceptionally well in rockeries, gravel gardens, containers and raised beds, where its neat habit and aromatic foliage can be fully appreciated.
