Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst'
Syringa vulgaris 'Amethyst' is a classic common lilac valued for its richly coloured, fragrant spring flowers. In late spring, deep purple buds open to soft lilac-mauve blooms, held in large, upright panicles that fill the garden with a sweet, unmistakable perfume.
This deciduous shrub has a strong, upright habit and is ideal for use as a specimen plant, in mixed borders, or as part of an informal flowering hedge. Easy to grow and long-lived, it thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, where it will reward gardeners with reliable flowering and excellent seasonal presence year after year.
