Skimmia japonica 'Perosa' ℗ (M) is a compact male evergreen shrub with striking variegated foliage and a neat, rounded habit. Its colourful leaves provide year-round interest and bring brightness and structure to shaded planting schemes.
Deep red flower buds develop on red stems during autumn and remain attractive throughout winter. In spring, the buds open into clusters of fragrant creamy-white flowers that are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
Hardy and low maintenance, 'Perosa' thrives in partial or full shade and prefers moist, well-drained acidic soil. It is ideal for patio containers, shaded borders, woodland gardens and smaller spaces, while its male flowers can help pollinate compatible female Skimmias nearby.
