Phlox subulata 'Purple Beauty'
Phlox subulata 'Purple Beauty' forms a low carpet of lilac-purple flowers with contrasting darker purple eyes. Its fine, needle-like evergreen foliage creates a dense cushion beneath the star-shaped blooms.
Flowering in mid to late spring, this spreading perennial brings colour to rockeries, gravel gardens and sunny border edges. Its trailing growth softens low walls, edges pathways and spills over the sides of containers.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil, avoiding positions that stay wet in winter. Trim lightly after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a neat, compact carpet.
