Philodendron 'Florida Beauty Variegata'
Philodendron 'Florida Beauty Variegata' is a striking climbing houseplant with deeply lobed leaves patterned in green, cream and pale yellow. The irregular marbling and splashes vary from leaf to leaf, while reddish, textured leaf stalks add further interest.
As the plant matures, its foliage becomes larger and more distinctly divided. Give it a moss pole or sturdy support to create an impressive upright display, with bright, indirect light and steady warmth supporting healthy growth.
- Other names: Variegated Florida Beauty Philodendron, Philodendron 'Florida Beauty'
- Useful to know: Toxic if ingested - keep away from pets and children
- Feature: Deeply lobed leaves with variable cream, yellow and green marbling
- Care: Provide climbing support and protect the pale leaf sections from harsh direct sunlight
- Eventual height: Can reach 2m or more when supported
- Origins: Cultivated hybrid selection with tropical South American parentage
Philodendron Care
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid deep shade and strong direct sunshine, which can scorch the pale areas of foliage.
Water: Allow the top few centimetres of compost to dry before watering thoroughly. Drain away excess water and never leave the pot standing in water.
Humidity: Prefers moderately high humidity with gentle air circulation. A humidifier can help in dry rooms, particularly while new leaves are opening.
Temperature: Ideally maintain 18–28°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C, cold draughts and direct heat from radiators.
Feeding: Apply a liquid houseplant fertiliser during active growth, following the product instructions. Reduce or stop feeding when growth slows.
Repotting: Repot when the roots become crowded, using an airy, freely draining houseplant compost with added bark and perlite. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the previous one.
Support: Train the stems onto a moss pole or sturdy framework, securing them loosely with soft ties.
Winter care: Reduce watering as growth slows, maintaining good light and steady warmth.
Experience level: Moderate
