Penstemon 'Rubicundus'
Penstemon 'Rubicundus' is an attractive upright perennial producing large crimson-red flowers with prominent white throats from July to August. The richly coloured blooms are carried above fresh green foliage, creating a bold and eye-catching display through the height of summer.
Its bushy, upright habit and bright green semi-evergreen leaves give the plant good structure in borders and mixed planting schemes. The flowers are particularly attractive to bumblebees and other pollinating insects, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
Well suited to sunny borders and cottage-style planting, Penstemon 'Rubicundus' performs best in well-drained soil and a reasonably sheltered position. It has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is recognised as an RHS Plants for Pollinators variety.
