Penstemon hartwegii 'Phoenix Violet'
Penstemon hartwegii 'Phoenix Violet' is a compact, upright perennial producing striking violet-purple, trumpet-shaped flowers above fresh green foliage. An exceptionally early-flowering selection, it begins its display from mid spring and continues flowering through late spring and into summer.
Well branched with a naturally neat and uniform habit, 'Phoenix Violet' produces an abundance of colourful flower spikes without becoming overly spreading. The flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making it a useful addition to wildlife-friendly planting as well as providing vibrant seasonal colour.
Ideal for sunny or partially shaded borders and patio containers, this compact Penstemon works particularly well towards the front of mixed planting schemes. Regular deadheading will help maintain its tidy appearance and encourage a longer flowering display.
