Parrotia persica 'Cherry Tips'
Parrotia 'Cherry Tips' is a deciduous Persian ironwood prized for its beautiful cherry-red autumn foliage. Green summer leaves provide a leafy backdrop, while small red flowers appear in spring before the main foliage display.
Its upright habit makes it an attractive specimen for lawns, mixed borders and woodland-style gardens. As the tree matures, the bark develops a decorative flaking texture, adding interest after the colourful autumn leaves have fallen.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells. Naturally low maintenance, it needs little routine pruning beyond removing damaged or crossing branches.
