Pachyveria 'Draco'
Pachyveria 'Draco' is a compact succulent forming neat rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves. Its blue-green foliage can develop attractive lilac, pink or purplish tones in brighter light, while a natural powdery coating gives the leaves a soft, matt finish.
Ideal for sunny windowsills and small succulent displays, this sculptural plant combines gentle colouring with a satisfyingly chunky shape. Its modest size and low watering needs make it a practical choice for small pots and indoor collections.
- Other names: × Pachyveria 'Draco'
- Useful to know: Non-toxic - safe around pets and children
- Feature: Fleshy rosettes with a powdery finish and changing pastel colours
- Care: Avoid rubbing the leaves, as this removes their protective waxy coating
- Eventual size: Approximately 8–13cm tall, with rosettes around 8–10cm across
- Origins: Cultivated hybrid between Pachyphytum and Echeveria
Pachyveria Care
Light: Provide plenty of bright light with some direct sunshine. Introduce stronger sunlight gradually to prevent scorching and encourage compact growth.
Water: Allow the compost to dry completely before watering thoroughly. Drain away excess water and never leave the pot standing in water.
Humidity: Normal indoor humidity is suitable. Avoid misting and provide good air circulation.
Temperature: Normal room temperatures are suitable. Keep frost-free, ideally above 10°C, and protect from cold draughts.
Feeding: Feed sparingly with a diluted cactus and succulent fertiliser during active growth, following the product instructions.
Repotting: Repot when necessary using gritty, freely draining cactus and succulent compost. Choose a slightly larger pot with drainage holes.
Leaf care: Handle gently to preserve the natural powdery coating. Direct water towards the compost rather than into the centre of the rosette.
Winter care: Keep in a bright position and water less frequently as growth slows.
Experience level: Easy
