Nyssa sylvatica 'Wildfire'
Nyssa 'Wildfire' is a deciduous tree prized for its colourful young growth and spectacular autumn foliage. Fresh leaves emerge orange-red before maturing to glossy dark green, creating an attractive contrast as new shoots develop.
In autumn, the foliage turns vivid shades of orange and deep red, providing a striking seasonal display. Its broadly pyramidal crown becomes more spreading with age, making it an impressive specimen for larger gardens, lawns and woodland-style planting.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in moisture-retentive, acidic to neutral soil. Choose a sheltered position with room for the crown to develop, and water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells. Little routine pruning is needed; plant in its permanent position to avoid disturbing established roots.
