Iris germanica 'Imperator'
Iris germanica 'Imperator' is a striking tall bearded iris producing richly coloured purple blooms with elegant veining and a soft golden beard. The large, slightly ruffled flowers appear in late spring, standing proudly above fans of upright, sword-like grey-green foliage.
This hardy perennial brings strong colour and structure to sunny borders and cottage garden planting. Like most bearded irises, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil where the rhizomes can sit close to the soil surface, becoming drought tolerant once established.
