Haworthia cooperi
Haworthia cooperi is a compact, slow-growing succulent forming low rosettes of fleshy green leaves with translucent tips. These clear leaf windows allow light to reach the tissues inside for photosynthesis, giving the foliage its distinctive, almost glass-like appearance.
Ideal for bright windowsills, desks and small succulent collections, this easy-care plant prefers gentle light and free-draining compost. Over time, it can produce offsets to form a small clump. Mature plants may also send up slender stems bearing small white to pinkish-white flowers in spring or summer.
- Other names: Window Haworthia, Cooper's Haworthia
- Useful to know: Non-toxic - safe around pets and children
- Feature: Fleshy green leaves with translucent, window-like tips
- Eventual height: Up to approximately 10cm, excluding flower stems
- Origins: South Africa
Haworthia Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or soft morning sun. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the transparent leaf tips.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out fully between waterings. Water sparingly, especially during winter.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining cactus or succulent mix. Feed lightly once or twice during the growing season with a diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: Tolerates low humidity. Keep in a dry, well-ventilated space.
Pruning & Propagation: No pruning needed. Propagates easily by separating offsets from the base in spring.
Experience level: Beginner-friendly
