Gymnocalycium damsii f. variegata
Gymnocalycium damsii f. variegata is an unusual and highly decorative cactus prized for its compact, rounded form and distinctive variegated colouring. Each plant develops its own combination of green, creamy yellow and sometimes pinkish tones, creating a unique patterned appearance alongside neat clusters of spines.
Its slow-growing, sculptural form makes this variegated Gymnocalycium particularly suited to sunny windowsills, cactus collections and small indoor displays. Provide plenty of bright light and free-draining compost, allowing the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings.
- Other names: Variegated Gymnocalycium, Chin Cactus
- Useful to know: Generally considered non-toxic, but the sharp spines should be handled with care
- Feature: Naturally variable green, cream, yellow and pink-toned variegation
- Eventual height: Typically remains compact, growing to around 10-15cm
- Origins: Gymnocalycium species originate from South America
