Griselinia littoralis 'Variegata' is a handsome evergreen shrub prized for its dense foliage of glossy green leaves edged with creamy-white margins. The variegated leaves bring light and contrast to hedges and borders, maintaining colour and texture throughout the year. With a steady growth rate of around 20–30cm per year, it forms a neat, wind-tolerant hedge ideal for coastal or sheltered gardens.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, ‘Variegata’ thrives in full sun or light shade and in well-drained soil. It is hardy in most regions and responds well to clipping, creating a dense, attractive screen. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it’s valued for reliability, year-round interest, and excellent garden performance. For best results, plant 3–4 per metre and trim annually to maintain shape.
