Gaultheria procumbens 'Big Berry'
Gaultheria procumbens 'Big Berry' is a compact evergreen shrub forming a low, spreading carpet of glossy, leathery green foliage. The aromatic leaves release a distinctive wintergreen scent when crushed and often develop attractive red and bronze tones during colder weather.
Small white or pale pink, bell-shaped flowers appear in summer and are followed by especially large scarlet-red berries. The colourful fruit remains attractive throughout autumn and winter, standing out beautifully against the dark foliage and providing valuable seasonal interest.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Big Berry' thrives in partial or full shade in moist but well-drained, acidic soil. Its ground-hugging habit makes it ideal for woodland borders, beneath acid-loving shrubs, or for adding long-lasting colour to patio containers and seasonal displays.
