Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii
Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii is a bold, architectural evergreen perennial that forms impressive clumps of striking blue-grey foliage throughout the year. Its strong, upright habit provides excellent structure and texture, making it a standout feature in both contemporary and Mediterranean-inspired planting schemes.
From March to April, tall stems are topped with spectacular sulphur-yellow flower heads that create a dramatic contrast against the glaucous foliage. The long-lasting blooms provide one of the earliest architectural displays of the gardening year and are invaluable for adding colour when many other perennials are only just beginning to emerge.
Drought tolerant once established, this robust perennial thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for gravel gardens, herbaceous borders and dry planting schemes.
