Echeveria 'Summer'
Echeveria 'Summer' is a compact, rosette-forming succulent with fleshy, pointed leaves in soft blue-green tones. A fine powdery coating gives the foliage a delicate, muted appearance, while brighter light can encourage warm pink or peach colouring.
Ideal for bright windowsills and mixed succulent arrangements, its neat shape adds colour and texture to small indoor displays. This easy-care plant stores water in its leaves and needs only occasional watering, making it well suited to a sunny spot in free-draining compost.
- Other names: Mexican Hens and Chicks
- Useful to know: Non-toxic - safe around pets and children
- Feature: Pastel blue-green rosettes with pink or peach tones in good light
- Eventual height: Approximately 15-20cm, with rosettes around 13-15cm across
- Origins: Cultivated variety
Echeveria Care
Light: Provide bright light, with some direct sunshine once acclimatised. Introduce stronger sunlight gradually and protect from intense midday sun through glass.
Water: Allow the compost to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess drain away. Avoid water collecting in the rosette and never leave the pot standing in water.
Humidity: Normal household humidity is suitable. Misting is unnecessary; provide good air circulation.
Temperature: Keep above 10°C and protect from frost and cold draughts.
Feeding: Apply a cactus and succulent fertiliser during active growth, following the manufacturer's instructions. Do not feed during winter rest.
Repotting: Use free-draining, peat-free cactus and succulent compost in a pot with drainage holes. Handle the leaves carefully to preserve their powdery coating.
Winter care: Keep in the brightest available position and reduce watering considerably, giving just enough to prevent excessive shrivelling.
