Delphinium Highlander 'Rainbow Sensation'
Delphinium 'Highlander Rainbow Sensation' is a distinctive herbaceous perennial producing beautifully unusual, fully double flowers in shades of soft pink and lilac. Each flower has a creamy yellow centre, while newly opened blooms can show subtle blue tones on the outer petals, creating the muted rainbow effect that gives this variety its name.
The densely packed flower rosettes are carried on strong upright stems throughout summer, creating an impressive display without the towering height of many traditional Delphiniums. Part of the Scottish-bred Highlander series, 'Rainbow Sensation' has a more compact habit that makes it equally suited to garden borders and large patio containers.
Hardy and well suited to the British climate, it performs best in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Keep plants well watered during dry summer weather. The striking flower stems are also excellent for cutting and make a beautiful addition to indoor arrangements.
