Crassula 'White Ben'
Crassula 'White Ben' is a compact succulent with pale foliage and fleshy leaves that store water. Its light colouring provides a gentle contrast alongside greener succulents, making it a useful addition to a collection of indoor plants.
Suitable for a bright windowsill or a small container display, this Crassula needs free-draining compost and careful watering. Allow the compost to dry between waterings and provide good light to encourage healthy growth, introducing direct sunshine gradually to avoid scorching.
- Other names: White Ben Crassula
- Useful to know: Toxic if ingested - keep away from pets and children
- Feature: Pale succulent foliage and a compact habit
- Eventual size: Compact; precise mature dimensions are not confirmed
- Origins: Cultivated variety; exact parentage and breeding origin are not confirmed
Crassula Care
Light: Provide bright light, with some direct sunshine once acclimatised. Introduce stronger sunlight gradually, particularly when moving the plant to a sunnier windowsill.
Water: Allow the compost to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess water drain away. Never leave the pot standing in water.
Humidity: Normal household humidity is suitable. Misting is unnecessary; provide good air circulation and avoid persistently damp conditions.
Temperature: Keep in a frost-free position away from cold draughts. Ordinary indoor temperatures are suitable during growth; cooler winter conditions are helpful if the compost is kept almost dry.
Feeding: Apply a cactus and succulent fertiliser at the manufacturer's recommended rate during active growth. Do not feed when growth has stopped.
Repotting: Use a pot with drainage holes and free-draining cactus and succulent compost. Repot when the roots have filled the container, choosing a pot only slightly larger.
Winter care: Keep in the brightest available position and reduce watering as growth slows. Water sparingly, just enough to prevent excessive leaf shrivelling.
