Carpinus betulus 'Rockhampton Red'
Carpinus betulus 'Rockhampton Red' is a striking deciduous hornbeam selected for its rich purple-red emerging foliage, which gradually deepens through the season before developing impressive autumn colour. Its neat, upright habit and dense branching structure make it an excellent feature tree for gardens, avenues, or structured planting schemes.
As the foliage matures, the leaves retain warm bronze and burgundy tones, providing long-lasting ornamental interest. Like traditional hornbeam, it is highly tolerant of pruning and clipping, making it suitable for screening, pleaching, or formal garden designs. Hardy and easy to grow, it thrives in most well-drained soils in sun or partial shade.
