Brunnera macrophylla 'Silver Heart'
Brunnera macrophylla 'Silver Heart' is grown for its broad, heart-shaped leaves, which are predominantly silver with fine green veins and narrow green edges. The heavily silvered foliage adds a bright contrast to shaded garden planting.
In spring, sprays of small blue flowers float above the foliage. Its clump-forming habit suits woodland borders, the front of shaded beds and containers, providing leaf colour through the growing season after the flowers have finished.
Plant in partial shade or shade in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil. Avoid letting the roots dry out and protect the foliage from strong afternoon sun. Remove old leaves in early spring as new growth appears.
