Begonia 'Silver Lace'
Begonia 'Silver Lace' is a beautifully refined rex begonia with shimmering silver foliage that seems to glow as it catches the light. The leaves are intricately edged with dark green to near-black markings, creating an elegant lace-like pattern that inspired the cultivar's name.
Adding further depth and contrast, the rich burgundy-red undersides subtly show through the leaf veins, enhancing the plant's overall richness of colour. Compact and bushy in habit, this striking variety is perfect for bright indoor displays, where its metallic foliage can be fully appreciated throughout the year.

Begonia Care Sheet
Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and fade the dramatic foliage colours.
Water: Water when the top few centimetres of compost begin to dry. Keep lightly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering during winter.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining houseplant compost mixed with perlite and fine bark. Feed every two to four weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Position near other houseplants or use a humidifier if indoor air is particularly dry. Avoid misting directly onto the leaves.
Pruning and propagation: Remove damaged or ageing leaves as required. Propagate through leaf cuttings or division of mature plants.
