Achillea millefolium 'The Beacon' ('Fanal')
Achillea millefolium 'The Beacon' is a hardy, clump-forming perennial producing broad clusters of soft red flowers that gradually fade through warm orange tones as they mature. The flowers are carried on tall, upright stems above finely divided, feathery grey-green foliage.
Flowering over a long period from May into October, 'The Beacon' provides dependable summer colour and is particularly effective in cottage gardens, mixed perennial borders and naturalistic planting schemes. The flowers are also attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
Best grown in full sun or light partial shade in free-draining soil, this easy-care Achillea is well suited to drier areas once established. Cutting back spent flower stems encourages fresh growth and can help extend the flowering display later into the season.
