We all know how good gardening and caring for plants is for both our physical and mental health so what better gift for your loved ones? If they are avid gardeners, there is always room for another plant or two! If they are new to gardening, gift them a new plant that will bring them joy and a sense of accomplishment as they watch it grow and thrive. If houseplants are their green-leaved friend of choice, then there is always an exciting new variety that they would love to add to their collection. Whatever plant you choose for your loved ones this Christmas, not only will it be loved by them but also by the environment so plants really are perfect for presents! The vivid red berries of Skimmia ‘Temptation’ made it Dylan’s top pick. ‘As well as offering fantastic autumn and winter interest, Skimmia are versatile and easy to grow making them the perfect gift for both experienced and novice gardeners. They can be grown in containers either alone or as part of an arrangement if you want to give a more substantial gift.’
Glen chose a beautiful Viburnum tinus for his photo, ‘These hardy shrubs are the perfect addition to a border where their evergreen leaves make a great backdrop for other plants. At this time of year, it is their clusters of flowers that make them stand out though.’
It was a classic winter-favourite for Mandy, ‘I love that Hellebores offer us beautiful flower blooms in the garden during the winter months. I like them in pots by the front door so I can enjoy them every day but they make a great addition to beds and borders as well.’
