Verbena bonariensis
Verbena bonariensis is a tall, elegant perennial renowned for its airy habit and masses of violet-purple flowers that appear from midsummer well into autumn. Held in clusters on slender, branching stems, the blooms seem to float above neighbouring plants, creating a light and natural effect throughout the garden.
Its distinctive see-through habit makes it ideal for weaving through mixed borders, prairie-style planting schemes and gravel gardens, where it adds height, movement and colour without obscuring surrounding plants. The long-lasting flowers provide valuable late-season interest and combine beautifully with ornamental grasses and other perennials.
