Sarcococca ruscifolia var. chinensis 'Dragon Gate'
Sarcococca 'Dragon Gate' is a compact evergreen shrub with a neat, sometimes suckering habit, prized for its year-round appeal and highly fragrant winter flowers. Its glossy, leathery leaves provide structure and greenery throughout the year, while from midwinter to early spring clusters of creamy-white, sweetly scented flowers emerge, releasing a powerful perfume that carries on the air and attracts early pollinators.
After flowering, berries develop in shades of red, purple, or black, often persisting into the following winter and adding further ornamental interest. Easy to grow and tolerant of shade, ‘Dragon Gate’ is particularly valuable for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and north-facing aspects, where it delivers colour, fragrance, and structure when little else is in bloom.
