Sambucus racemosa 'Sutherland Gold' is a striking deciduous shrub grown for its finely divided, bright golden-yellow foliage. Its elegant, feathery leaves create a light and airy appearance while bringing vivid colour and contrast to mixed borders.
Small conical clusters of creamy-white flowers appear during spring, standing out beautifully against the luminous foliage. These are followed by glossy red berries in autumn, extending the seasonal display after the flowers have faded.
Hardy, vigorous and easy to grow, 'Sutherland Gold' performs best in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade or gentle sun. It is ideal for shrub borders, informal hedging and wildlife-friendly gardens and tolerates hard pruning where a more compact shape is required.
