Rhododendron luteum 'Royal Command'
Rhododendron luteum 'Royal Command' is a striking late-flowering deciduous azalea with a strong, upright habit and outstanding seasonal colour. In late spring, it produces large trusses of vivid orange flowers that bring warmth and drama to the garden, extending the azalea flowering season well beyond earlier varieties.
The fresh green foliage provides an excellent backdrop to the flowers before turning rich shades of red and bronze in autumn, adding further interest later in the year. Hardy and reliable, this azalea thrives in acidic soil and lightly shaded positions, where it performs superbly as a specimen shrub or within mixed borders. Its nectar-rich blooms are also highly attractive to bees.
